Roads to be resurfaced in Conception Bay East and Bell Island

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett and Conception Bay East and Bell Island MHA Jim Walsh announced today government will make improvements to roads in the district.

"Government is committed to improving local roads throughout the province and I am pleased to upgrade areas in Conception Bay East and Bell Island as part of the 2002-/2003 provincial capital roads program," said Minister Barrett. "Drivers in that area will be pleased with the improvements we will carry out this year."

This year�s projects include resurfacing a section of Thorburn Road, as well as resurfacing Steve Neary�s Road on Bell Island.

"The work being done on these roads will no doubt make for better driving for motorists," said Mr. Walsh. "I am also extremely pleased government has agreed to pave another 1.7 kilometres of Bauline Line."

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next several weeks.
