Roads improvements for Burgeo-La Poile

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett and Burgeo-La Poile MHA Kelvin Parsons announced today government will carry out road upgrades and repairs in the district as part of its provincial capital roads program.

"The Department of Works, Services and Transportation is dedicated to improving roads in Newfoundland and Labrador, and I am pleased to say that we have responded to the need for upgrading in Burgeo-La Poile with a number of projects this year," said Minister Barrett.

"I am very pleased that funding has been allocated to improve road conditions in my district," said Minister Kelvin Parsons. "These improvements will allow for smooth traffic flow and safer road conditions for the motoring public."

Projects planned for the Burgeo-LaPoile area include:

• rehabilitating Bay d�Lit Bridge;
• replacing handrails on Isle aux Morts Bridge;
• resurfacing High Street, Port aux Basques;
• paving at Cape Ray.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
