The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador hosted a successful annual general meeting on Saturday at Holiday Inn in St. John's. Several timely discussions were facilitated as part of the meetings. Most felt it was the most successful annual general meeting in a number of years.

In addition to the routine presentation of an annual report and audit, discussions also included a review of who could possibly be members of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador and discussions on the state of the Provincial Training Center. Twenty-nine provincial sport organizations were represented at the meeting.

The new board of directors includes President Dave Brenton of Marystown, First Vice President, Tom Godden of St. John's, Second Vice President Doug Fowler of St. John's, Western Director, Mike Alexander of Stephenville, Eastern Director, Ben Dunne of Mount Pearl, Director at Large, Wayne Simon of Stephenville, and Secretary Wade Hiscock of St. John's. They join three
others in the middle of two-year terms. They are Northern Director, Lou Byrne of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Central Director, Bill Burke of Grand Falls-Windsor and Southern Director, Larry Reid of Clarenville.
