Eastern Canadian Bantam Basketball Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will be sending two teams to the Eastern Canadian National Bantam (U13) Club Championships next weekend, June 27-30 in Hamilton, Ontario. The tournament will feature eight teams in each of the boys and girls divisions, made up of provinces east of Ontario. Two additional clubs from Ontario will complete the eight-team event. The boy�s team representing the province is St. Catherine�s School on Salmonier line who won the East Coast Bantam Pepsi Championship on April 14. Individuals on the team include: Bruce Dobbin, Curtis Walsh, Andrew Dalton from Admiral�s Beach; Justin Hearn, Simmon Dobbin from St. Joseph�s; Jeffrey Pike, Justin Penny, Michael Follett from St. Catherine�s; Leo Christopher from Harricott; Matthew Gregory from Forest Field; Andrew Daley, Desmond Lewis from New Bridge; Josh Hanlon from O�Donnell�s; and Stephen Butland from Mount Carmel. Coaches for the program are John Best and Joey Dalton.

The Bantam Girls team representing the province is the Daley Selects, consisting of athletes from different schools on the Avalon Peninsula. Individuals selected to the team include: Kellie Lynch, Ashley Dunn, Sarah Sturge, Tracey Dyer, � Mt. Pearl Jr. High, Ariana Kavanagh, Anna Sullivan, Allison Daley � St. Kevin�s; Kayla King � St. John Bosco; Dallas Costello � Roncalli; and Jenine Daley, Angela Isenor, Julia Hiscock � St. Peter�s. Coaches for the program are Scott Lynch and Kim Lynch.
