Provincial Pepsi Basketball Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association kicks off it�s 2002 Pepsi Minor Provincial Championships this weekend, March 15-16. A record 300 teams have applied to compete in the events over the next six weekends. The Under-11 Boys event will take place at St. John Bosco in Shea Heights, with a total of eight teams entered. Teams include: St. John Bosco, St. Kevin�s of the Gould�s, Holy Cross of Holyrood, St. Francis of Assisi of Outer Cove, St. Bonaventure�s of St. John�s, Newtown Elementary of Mount Pearl, St. Catherine�s of Mount Carmel and St. Patrick�s of Bay Bulls.

The Under-11 Girls event will take place at St. Kevin�s School in the Gould�s with five teams competing for the title. Teams include: St. Kevin�s, St. Bonaventure�s of St. John�s, St. Francis of Assisi of Outer Cove, St. Edwards of Dunville and Newtown Elementary of Mount Pearl. Tournament play commences Friday afternoon and will conclude with championship games on Saturday evening.
