The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Provincial Pepsi Basketball Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association kicks of its Minor Provincial Pepsi Club Championships this weekend February 1 and 2 with 10 teams participating in the mini championships.

The Mini Under 11 Boys event will be held at St. Matthew�s and Cowan Heights Schools with Cowan Heights, Shea Heights, Goulds Hoopsters and Mount Pearl "A" and Mount Pearl "B" teams participating.

The Mini Under 11 Girls event will take place at Goulds Elementary. Teams participating include Cowan Heights, Goulds Hoopsters St. Bonaventure�s, St. Kevin�s and Newtown Elementary.

The tournaments are scheduled to start on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and will conclude with the championship games on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
