Minister announces opening of the Orma North Caribou Zone in Labrador

Julie Bettney, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation and Minister responsible for wildlife, announced today that, effective immediately, the Orma North Caribou Management Zone in Labrador will be opened to caribou hunting. The minister has received information that George River Caribou have recently entered these zones.

"The staff of my department will continue to monitor the movement of the George River Caribou Herd and additional areas may open pending movements of George River animals, " said Minister Bettney. "I would like to wish all hunters a successful hunt and encourage everyone to exercise caution and safety in their pursuit."
