Projects named for the 2002 Provincial Parks Program

Julie Bettney, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation announced today funding of $225,000 to improve provincial parks across Newfoundland and Labrador.

The work entails the completion of the third phase of a three-year trail upgrading at Butter Pot Park ($45,500), the completion of the comfort station at Frenchman�s Cove ($80,000), the drilling of an artesian well at J. T. Cheeseman Park ($15,000), providing provincial park signage, and maintenance work including road surfacing, repairs and replacements at several provincial parks.

"The Parks and Natural Areas Division of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation has targeted these projects as urgent needs," said Minister Bettney. "These projects will allow our parks to provide the best possible service to the public and to address safety concerns within parks and reserves."
