New in-province marketing campaign launched

Julie Bettney, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, said every household in Newfoundland and Labrador will receive the Spring and Fall Escape Guide 2002, the departments new in-province marketing campaign.

"This guide provides something for everyone from seeking indulgence, relaxation and romance to adventure, educational and cultural activities, and family fun," said Minister Bettney. "The guide further encourages Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to see why our province is so popular with tourists from all over the world and learn about what our province has to offer tourists."

The guide will arrive free in the mail to all households over the next couple of days. Inside, there are six sections: Outdoor Adventure, Family Fun, Relaxing Retreats, Cultural Getaways, Golfing and Dining. Also there are over $800 worth of value offers from attractions, tours, golf courses, accommodations, restaurants and museums.

While the overall campaign will still promote vacationing in Newfoundland and Labrador, the goal is to lengthen the tourism season by promoting value offers for the spring and fall.

"The Spring and Fall Escape Guide 2002 is designed to familiarize Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with the tourism products in their area and to increase the business of tourism operators when they need it most, in the spring and fall," said Minister Bettney. "This is a great opportunity for residents to become knowledgeable tourism ambassadors especially as May is Tourism Awareness Month. I encourage all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to experience what it is like to be a tourist in this province and to make full use of the wide variety of value offers in the guide."
