Notice of daylight-savings time

Oliver Langdon, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, advises that as of 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2002, the time will change to daylight-savings time and will remain in effect until Sunday, October 27, 2002. Effectively, time will go ahead one hour from Newfoundland Standard Time to daylight-savings time.

As minister responsible for fire prevention Minister Langdon encourages citizens to change their smoke detector batteries when they set their clocks. Langdon said: "Smoke detectors save lives. I encourage people to make sure that their smoke detectors are in good working order."
