Mines and Energy Minister Lloyd Matthews will be in Winnipeg from September 16-18, for the 59th annual Mines and Energy Ministers Conference.

Federal Natural Resources Minister Herb Dhaliwal will also participate in the discussions with his provincial and territorial counterparts.

"This conference will provide this province with another opportunity to discuss issues of importance in the Canadian mining and energy sectors with our counterparts from across the country," said Mr. Matthews. "Many of these issues have great relevance to Newfoundland and Labrador and I look forward to these face to face meetings with federal, provincial and territorial ministers."

Industry officials will also be present at the conference to provide presentations and take part in discussions relative to various topics in the mining and energy sectors.
