Minister appoints new Provincial Court Judge

Justice Minister and Attorney General Kelvin Parsons today announced the following appointment:

Catherine Allen-Westby, is a judge to the Provincial Court bench, Judicial Centre of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. She replaces Timothy J. Chaulker, who has been reassigned to the Judicial Centre of Grand Falls-Windsor.

Judge Allen-Westby obtained a Bachelor of Law at University of Ottawa in 1985, and was called to the Bar of Newfoundland in 1986. At the time of her appointment, she was a partner practicing with Monaghan, Marshall, Allen-Westby, Murphy and Watton.

Judge Allen-Westby carried out the role of vice-chairperson on the Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal, was a member of Benchers, Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and served a five year term as vice-chairperson of the Labour Relations Board. Her community involvement is extensive, including positions as director and vice-chairperson of several boards.

"I extend best wishes and congratulations to Judge Allen-Westby in her new position," said Minister Parsons.

This appointment is effectively immediately.
