Provincial court strategic plan released

Justice Minister Kelvin Parsons and Provincial Court Chief Judge Reid today released the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador�s new strategic plan, entitled "Better Serving Justice and the Public."

"This plan strengthens the existing approach to court services in Newfoundland and Labrador," said the minister. "The Department of Justice will continue to be vigilant in its efforts to provide a high-level efficient and effective court system."

The three-year plan will more sharply focus on a program of continuous improvement in the areas of human resource development, application of technology, communications, administrative improvement and court performance.

"It is intended that the plan remain a living document that will be reviewed and revised on a timely basis," said Chief Judge Reid.

The strategic directions reflect current and emerging justice trends and seek to respond to these trends. It will allow the provincial court to be well positioned to respond to the needs of justice and the public throughout the life of the plan."
