Queen's Counsel appointments

Kelvin Parsons, Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Newfoundland and Labrador, is pleased to announce the Lieutenant-Governor in Council has appointed 10 lawyers as Queen's Counsel.

They are: Kenneth A. Templeton, David L. G. Andrews, Joseph S. Hutchings, Jeffrey P. Benson, James E. Vavasour, Lois J. Skanes, John D. Brooks, John W. McGrath, David G. L. Buffett and William H. N. Goodridge.

Kenneth A. Templeton is with the law firm Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales in St. John's. He was admitted to the bar in 1980.

David L. G. Andrews practices with Moores, Andrews, Collins in Bay Roberts and was admitted to the bar in 1981.

Joseph S. Hutchings practices law with the Corner Brook firm of Poole, Althouse, Thompson & Thomas and was admitted to the bar in 1977.

Jeffrey P. Benson is with the firm Benson.Myles of St. John's and was admitted to the bar in 1980.

James E. Vavasour practices law with the St. John's firm of Mercer, MacNab, Vavasour & Fagan and was admitted to the bar in 1974.

Lois J. Skanes is with the St. John's law firm Williams, Roebothan, McKay & Marshall and was admitted to the bar in 1985.

John D. Brooks, previously employed as a prosecutor with the provincial Department of Justice, is about to take a new position in St. John's with the federal Department of Justice. He was admitted to the bar in 1979.

John W. McGrath of the law firm McGrath, Rose in St. John's was admitted to the bar in 1974.

David G. L. Buffett practices law with the firm Benson.Myles in St. John's. He was admitted to the bar in 1975.

William H. N. Goodridge practices law with the firm Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales in St. John's and was admitted to the bar in 1982.

The appointees will receive their commissions as Queen's Counsel from Hon. A.M. House, Lieutenant-Governor, at a date to be announced later.
