Newfoundland and Labrador companies exhibit at Rhode Island marine technology trade show

Eight Newfoundland and Labrador marine-related companies travelled this week to Providence, Rhode Island to participate in a marine trade show. They are part of a 23-company contingent of Atlantic Canada firms attending Fish Expo WorkBoat Atlantic, a showcase for marine technology products and services.

"Newfoundland and Labrador has a growing number of companies that manufacture marine-related products and technologies," says Kelvin Parsons, Minister of Industry, Trade and Rural Development. " This show provides local companies with exposure to the international marketplace and will help foster new export opportunities for their products and services."

Local companies exhibiting at Fish Expo WorkBoat Atlantic include: Consolidated Technologies Ltd., St, Johns; Atlantic Communications Enterprises Ltd., St. Johns; Northstar Technical Inc., St. Johns; Canmar International Group, La Scie and Triton; Marine Services International, St. Johns; International Communications and Navigation Ltd. (ICAN), Mount Pearl; Terra Nova Marine Co. Ltd., Mount Pearl; TriNav Consultants Inc., St. Johns. In addition, Milton Fibreglass Products Ltd. of Milton and Genoa Design International Ltd. of Manuels are attending the show as delegates.

The Department of Industry, Trade and Rural Development, through the Canada/Atlantic Provinces COOPERATION Agreement on International Business Development (IBDA), has retained the services of a match-making consultant in Rhode Island to arrange meetings between the Newfoundland and Labrador companies and potential clients. The Agreement will also help Newfoundland and Labrador exhibitors defray the cost of exhibiting at the show.

The Fish Expo WorkBoat Atlantic show has been held for 36 years and this year runs from October 3 to 5 and has over 350 exhibitors.

The Canada/Atlantic Provinces COOPERATION Agreement on International Business Development strives to increase exports in Atlantic Canada by funding projects designed to help small and medium-sized companies explore, enter and succeed in international markets. The partners in this COOPERATION Agreement are the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
