Minister launches redesigned Work Information Network

Ralph Wiseman, Minister of Human Resources and Employment, today invited people of the province to visit his departments redesigned Newfoundland and Labrador Work Information Network web site.

"The Newfoundland and Labrador Work Information Network web site has been offering the people of the province the very best in employment and career information since 1998," said Minister Wiseman. "In order to stay current with our growing job world and the ever changing career landscape, we have redesigned the site to better reflect todays labour market trends."

Newfoundland and Labrador Work Information Network provides information about the labour market, career planning and job opportunities targeted to the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Resources are available to help with: career planning, self-assessment, analyzing provincial occupational profiles, discovering jobs in the hidden job market, exploring self-employment as an option, along with other important employment related topics.

"The timing of the launch of our redesigned web site could not be better," said Minister Wiseman. "This week, from November 3 - 9, our province celebrates Canada Career Week. The theme this year is Focus on the Journey. I think a huge part of a persons journey in choosing a career is learning what employment opportunities are out there and what skills will be in demand in our future labour market. NLWIN is a great resource to use when doing this career research."

Initially launched in 1998 by the Government of Newfoundland and Labradors Department of Human Resources and Employment, the NLWIN website was redesigned in October of this year. The site offers "ready access" to information within four content areas: Career Planning; Learning; Employment; and Programs/Services. NLWIN features a variety of search options and is accessible at: www.gov.nl.ca/nlwin.

NLWIN is a proud partner of the "Canada WorkInfoNet" a network of websites in every province and territory which provides users with access to career, work and labour market information resources at the national, provincial, regional and local levels.

Along with the revamped NLWIN site, the Department of Human Resources and Employment still offers the Networks toll-free live telephone career information line at 1-800-563-6600. Through the toll-free line, career development staff assist people across the province obtain information and guidance as they pursue career aspirations and conduct effective job searches.
