Minister makes appointments to health boards

Julie Bettney, Minister of Health and Community Services, is pleased to announce the appointment of the volunteer board members for the Western Health Care Corporation and Grenfell Regional Health Services.

"These volunteers have kindly agreed to serve on these health boards and provide direction on the delivery of health services in their respective regions," said Minister Bettney. "They have accepted a very important and challenging task and I thank them for their willingness to represent the people of their communities on these boards."

Minister Bettney also thanked those members who completed their term of appointment for their contribution to the health and community services system.

The recent appointments include:

Western Health Care Corporation

New appointees:

Harold Lomond, Port aux Basques
Freida Faour, Corner Brook
Bryson Webb, Port aux Basques

Aneitha Sheaves, Port aux Basques

Minister Bettney noted that two vacancies exist on the board of the Western Health Care Corporation and she expects to be in a position to appoint members in the very near future.

Grenfell Regional Health Services Board

The appointment term is for a period of up to three years.

"This year promises to be very interesting and challenging for health services in this province and across the country," said Minister Bettney. "I look forward to working with these boards as we roll out our new strategic health plan for this province."
