Minister Noel to host town hall meeting on automobile insurance

Walter Noel, Minister of Government Services and Lands, will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 12 to discuss automobile insurance issues. The meeting will be held at the Fairmont Hotel beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Minister Noel said: "I invite all interested individuals to participate in this town hall. I encourage them to make suggestions, raise questions and help determine what should be done to reduce accidents and the cost of claims, make driving safer, help control rising insurance rates, and provide citizens with the protection they require."

A number of interested parties have agreed to participate in the forum including: Jamie Martin, Law Society of Newfoundland/Canadian Bar Association, Newfoundland Branch; Tom Hickey, Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland; Victoria Harnum, Advocates of Fair Auto Insurance; Kevin Breen, Coalition Against No-Fault Insurance; Winston Morris, Superintendent of Insurance; Dennis O�Keefe, Consumers for Fair Auto Insurance; John Thompson, Facility Association; David Anthony, Insurance Corporation of Newfoundland; Don Forgeron, Insurance Bureau of Canada; and Robert Byrne, Public Utilities Board.

Each participant will make a brief presentation and then the floor will be open to the public.
