Roaches Line man convicted for big game offence

Forty-one year old Gregory J. Bartlett of Roaches Line was recently convicted in provincial court at Placentia on one count of shooting caribou in the wrong management area. Charges were laid as a result of an investigation by conservation officers with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.

Mr. Bartlett was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and is prohibited from possessing a big game licence for a period of five years. A caribou seized from Mr. Bartlett was also forfeited to the Crown.

The conviction is the result of events which occurred on the Cape Shore Highway near Branch in September 2002.
