Middle Pond man sentenced on forestry violation

A Middle Pond man recently plead guilty in Provincial Court in St. John�s to a charge of cutting timber without a commercial cutting permit. Twenty-one year old Derrick Carew was fined $500 and a quantity of sawlogs was also forfeited to the Crown.

The charge was laid following an investigation by conservation officers with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods in May 2002.
