Bauline man convicted on wildlife charges

A 40 year old Bauline man was recently convicted in Provincial Court in St. Johns on two charges of killing moose without a licence. Gregory Whelan was fined a total of $2,500 and is prohibited from holding a big game licence for five years. A .303 rifle was also forfeited to the Crown.

The conviction is the result of charges laid by conservation officers with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods following an investigation which began in December 2001. Charges are also pending against two other individuals in relation to the same investigation.
