Charges laid as a result of wildlife investigation

Conservation officers with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods have laid a total of four charges against two men following an investigation that took place during the fall of 2001 on the Port au Port peninsula. One individual is a resident of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia while the other resides in Bay St. George.

The investigation focused on the activities of the individual from Nova Scotia who faces three charges stemming from the incident. The charges include killing big game during closed season, illegal possession of big game and possession of a rifle without a licence. The man from Bay St. George has been charged with illegal possession of big game.

The two men are scheduled to appear in court on May 6, 2002 in Stephenville to answer to the alleged offences.
