Opening date announced for House of Assembly

Government House Leader Tom Lush today announced that the House of Assembly will resume sitting on Monday, November 18, 2002.

"This will be a busy and productive session," said Minister Lush. "We have around 30 pieces of legislation on the agenda, some 15 of which were carried over from the spring sitting. In this fall sitting, we will bring forward a number of pieces of legislation including the revamped Social Assistance Act, car insurance regulations reform, new laws governing cell phone use and reforms to the Election Act."

Once again, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will be able to access all happenings in the House of Assembly through local cable stations across the province.

"Televising the House has proven an excellent method of communicating with the people of the province," said Minister Lush. "They can now see the day-to-day operations of government and get a better sense of their members and the work they do. We are pleased to continue providing this service to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador."
