NOTE TO EDITORS:

The following is the itinerary of events Premier Roger Grimes is participating in on Friday, October 4, 2002.

At 9:00 a.m. Premier Grimes will join Tom Lush, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, Walter Noel, Minister of Government Services and Lands and MHA for the District of Virginia Waters, and St�phane Dion, federal Minister responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs, for the announcement of a new francophone school and community centre for St. John�s. This news conference will take place in the pre-function area of the Fairmont Newfoundland.

At 10:00 a.m. Premier Grimes and Julie Bettney, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation will attend a news conference with the Francophone Federation of Newfoundland and Labrador to present funding to the federation for the French Heritage 2004 Celebrations. The news conference will take place at the Avalon Room of the Fairmont Newfoundland.

At 11:00 a.m. Premier Grimes will participate in a news conference with Lockheed Martin Canada and Northstar Network Ltd. to announce a major, multi year contract for the design and manufacture of components for an Underwater Intruder Detection System. The news conference will take place at the Delta Hotel, Salon D.
