NOTE TO EDITORS:

On Wednesday, September 4, the Commissioners of the Royal Commission on Renewing and Strengthening our Place in Canada will announce details of their Research and Consultation Plan, including the schedule for the public hearings, and will release their Consultation Document.

A news conference will be held in the Colonial Building, St. John�s and will be available to view on the Commission�s web site at approximately 1:00 p.m. NST the same day.

The Commission was announced in the Speech from the Throne in March 2002. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced the appointment of Commissioners Elizabeth Davis and James Igloliorte and Chair Vic Young in April 2002, when the Terms of Reference were also issued. The Commissioners took up their duties in June 2002.

The three Commissioners will be available for interviews following the news conference.
