Premier extends condolences to family and friends of Bob French, MHA

Premier Roger Grimes extended his sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bob French, MHA for the district of Conception Bay South, on his passing.

"We are all very saddened to learn of Mr. Frenchs passing, and want his family and friends to know that we are thinking of them at this time," said Premier Grimes. "The people of this province, and in particular the people of Conception Bay South, have lost a dedicated public servant."

Premier Grimes said that Mr. French contributed a great deal to his town as an elected representative at both the provincial and the municipal levels, as well as during his years in business. Mr. French was an active volunteer, and helped promote sports such as softball and hockey as well as the 1996 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games in the Conception Bay South area and across the province.

"The passing of Mr. French is a loss to his community and this province. I would like to once again extend to his family and friends the condolences of government members of the House of Assembly, as well as the people of Newfoundland and Labrador."

Flags will be flown at half-mast at provincial government buildings as a sign of respect.
