Cabinet Committee in Avalon and Eastern regions of the Strategic Social Plan

The Social Policy Committee of Cabinet is on the road again for working visits in the Avalon and Eastern Regions of the Strategic Social Plan, February 25, 26, and 27.

The Cabinet Committee begins its meetings in the Avalon region this afternoon, with a visit to a Trinity Employment Corporation worksite at Terra Nova Shoes in Harbour Grace.

"Our meetings with steering committees, and our site visits have been invigorating," said Education Minister Judy Foote, Chair of the Social Policy Committee. "Its wonderful to see people working together to make a difference in their regions. Their commitment to the SSP process is impressive."

While in the area, social policy ministers will also visit an early intervention program for preschool children at Coleys Point Elementary, before meeting with the Avalon Region Steering Committee of the SSP.

The committee then heads to the Eastern Region on Tuesday afternoon, February 26.

Theyll take in a presentation about an innovative internet-based training program called Web Enabled Basic Computer Training (WEBCT) at College of the North Atlantic that afternoon, and the following morning visit a family resource centre in Musgravetown.

Cabinet ministers meet with the Eastern Region Steering Committee of the Strategic Social Plan on Wednesday, February 27.
