Social Policy Committee meetings start today in Central Region

The Social Policy Committee of Cabinet begins two days of meetings and site visits in the Central Region today as part of the Cabinet Committee�s series of working visits to Strategic Social Plan (SSP) regions across the province.

Judy Foote, Minister of Education and Chair of the Social Policy Committee of Cabinet, said: "The SSP is about long-term change and focuses on collaboration and partnerships across governments, private sector and the community. These working visits give cabinet ministers a chance to speak with regional steering committees and learn more about the kinds of activities they are undertaking that are making a difference in communities."

NOTE TO EDITORS: Media opportunities have been arranged, and include:

  • Cabinet ministers will be available to the media on Wednesday, February 13 from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hotel Gander.
  • The Cabinet Committee will meet with the Central Region Steering Committee of the Strategic Social Plan on Thursday, February 14 at the Mount Peyton Hotel in Grand Falls-Windsor. Ministers are available to media at 12:00 noon.
  • Ministers are also available to the media on the afternoon of February 14 during the site visits to Your Strength is Our Strength Club in Peterview and the Community Youth Network in Botwood.
