Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Kevin Aylward has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Crown District 17 Five-Year Operating Plan Amendment

Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

The proponent proposes to harvest (6,086m3), a small area in the Mount St Margaret District 17 operating area, where timber has been accessed but not harvested from the previous five-year operating plan (1997-2002). There will also be some harvesting (20,310m3) of Partition AAC. Partition stands are small, isolated timber stands that are scattered throughout the district. This is proposed as an integrated sawlog/pulpwood operation. The project was registered on October 7, 2002; public comments are due by November 11, 2002; and the minister's decision is due by November 21, 2002.
