Environment Minister Kevin Aylward has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act.

DRAFT GUIDELINES RELEASED FOR PUBLIC REVIEW:

Cartwright Junction to Happy Valley-Goose Bay Trans Labrador Highway

Proponent: Department of Works, Services and Transportation

The Minister has released the draft guidelines for the Environmental Impact Statement required for the Cartwright Junction to Happy Valley-Goose Bay Trans Labrador Highway. The draft guidelines provide the proponent, the Department of Works, Services and Transportation, with direction for the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement. The public is invited to review the draft guidelines and provide comments on them to the Minister. Public comments must be received by November 13, 2002 in order for the Minister to issue final guidelines to the proponent.

The draft guidelines are available electronically on the Government Web at www.gov.nl.ca/env or copies may be obtained from the Environmental Assessment Division.
