AWMCCC launches Web site

The Avalon Waste Management Community Consultative Committee (AWMCCC) is now on the World Wide Web. A Web site profiling the composition, mission and mandate of the committee as well as progress and information on solid waste management is now available at www.avalonwaste.com.

"The committee is very excited about the launch of the Web site," said Lloyd W. Wicks, AWMCCC chair. "The internet is truly a cost-effective method of communicating the activity and progress of the committee and the nature of the solutions being developed."

The Web site contains a listing of committee members, their contact information, the Terms of Reference for the committee, sub-committee structures, current waste generation, a map listing current waste sites, committee newsletters, and glossary of waste management terminology. As work is completed plans are to post proposed options for a new facility as well as a proposed model for governance of the new regional waste management authority.

"Work is continuing at an accelerated pace to submit our report to government this summer," continued Judge Wicks. "I am pleased with the commitment shown by all members of the committee and the efforts by all to achieve consensus on attaining our goals and objectives. The Web site will greatly assist us in communicating progress with communities and the public."

For more information please visit the new Web site at www.avalonwaste.com.
