NLIS 6 March 11, 2002 (Environment) Environmental Assessment Bulletin Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
The Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods proposes to amend the Five Year Operating Plan for silvicultural treatments. The treatments are necessary to provide flexibility in meeting strategic objectives outlined in the district management plan. The silviculture treatments involve widely-practised stand establishment, stem density management and vegetation competition control measures. Approximately 288 hectares of forest land will be treated. A variety of treatment types will be used, including pre-commercial thinning (78 ha), planting (120 ha), plantation maintenance (25 ha), stand improvement (pruning) (35 ha) and diameter limit thinning (30 ha). The undertaking was registered on March 11; public comments are due by April 15; and the minister's decision is due on April 25. UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:
