Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following event relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. Copies of documents may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment at (709) 729-2562 or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Bellmans Pond (Glenwood) Forest Access Road
Proponent: A. L. Stuckless and Sons Ltd.

The proponent proposes to construct a forest access road to access timber in Forest Management District 8, in the vicinity of Bellmans Pond and Gander River. The fibre harvested will be utilized at the A. L. Stuckless and Sons Ltd. sawmill in Glenwood and at a value added plant in Springdale. The road construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2002. The undertaking was registered on December 27, public comments are due February 6 and the minister's decision is due on February 10.
