Results of July 24, 2002 by election in Bonavista North District

The following is being distributed at the request of Wayne Green, Chief Electoral Officer:

The official addition of the votes for the July 24, 2002 by election in the Electoral District of Bonavista North was completed by the returning officer, Audrey Whiteway, Fire Hall, Aspen Cove at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2002. Ms. Whiteway has certified the following votes cast for each candidate:

     HARDING, Harry  Progressive Conservative  3,424
     TULK, Beaton  Liberal  2,540
     WHELAN, John  New Democrat      35
     Total Votes Cast  5,999

In keeping with Sections 163(1) and 163(3) of the Elections Act, the returning officer will forward to the chief electoral officer the declaration of election of Harry Harding on August 9, 2002, 12 clear days following the official addition of the votes, for publication in the Newfoundland Gazette whereupon arrangements will be made to swear him in as the member of the House of Assembly for the Electoral District of Bonavista North.
