Preliminary Count - Bonavista North by election

The following is being distributed at the request of Wayne Green, Chief Electoral Officer:

Based on preliminary vote counts received by telephone, from four advance polls, 48 regular polls, and the special mail in ballot count, the results of the July 24, 2002, by election in the Electoral District of Bonavista North are as follows:

HARDING, Harry	Progressive Conservative	3,424
TULK, Beaton	Liberal	2,540
WHELAN, John	New Democrat	33

Total Votes Cast:		5,997

The official addition of the votes for the by election in Bonavista North is scheduled to take place at the office of the returning officer, Fire Hall, Aspen Cove at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2002. Upon conclusion of the official addition of the votes, the candidate who receives the largest number of votes shall be declared elected by the returning officer.
