Literacy funding announced

Education Minister Judy Foote announced today the approval of $92,000 for literacy projects or programs in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Funding, which ranges from $9,500 to $24,117, is being provided to the following:

  • Teachers on Wheels
  • Baie Verte Peninsula Economic Development Council
  • Deer Lake Community Learning Council
  • The Family Literacy Project for New Immigrants
  • Bishop�s Falls United in Inclusion and Literacy Development
  • Partners in Learning: Community Learning Centre

"These projects represent a wide range of literacy initiatives which demonstrate the need for diverse solutions in order to increase literacy levels in the province. Investment in literacy development is an investment in our people and our future," said Minister Foote.
