Early childhood literacy
grants announced
Education Minister Judy Foote announced today
the approval of $133, 521.40 in grants for early childhood literacy
programs. This funding is the Department of Education�s allocation under
the Early Childhood Development Initiative, Stepping into the future.
Funding which ranges from $1,000 to $20,000
is being offered to the following non-profit community-based early childhood
literacy programs:

"I am pleased we have been able to offer
support to such a wide range of early childhood literacy programs,"
said Minister Foote. "Strengthening our capacity for the delivery of
early childhood literacy programs is an important step towards improving our
literacy levels and attaining our goal of achieving the highest literacy
levels in Canada."
