Improvements for Torbay Road
A busy section of Torbay Road in the community of Torbay will receive substantial improvements this summer. Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, announced today the department has allocated $200,000 for the project.
The department plans to upgrade and repave approximately 400 metres of Torbay Road, including intersection improvements at Marine Drive and Convent Lane.
"There is quite a bit of congestion in this area. Torbay Road and Marine Drive are very heavily travelled and Convent Lane leads into a large residential area. There is also a church, school and convenience store located near the intersection, along with several other businesses along this stretch of road," said Barrett. "When the work is completed, motorists will see improved traffic flow, especially during peak times of the day."
The department will call a tender within the next two months.
