Over half a million dollars for road upgrades in Placentia and St. Mary�s

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, today announced government will invest $575,000 into road upgrades in Placentia and St. Mary�s.

"This is a significant investment which we will use toward several improvement projects in the area," said Barrett. "I�m pleased the department will be able to go forward with these projects this year."

Projects planned for 2001/02 include:

  • Replace North Harbour River Bridge (carry-over);

  • Electrical/mechanical repair to Placentia Lift Bridge;

  • Repair 300 metre section of Route 100, Argentia Access Road (three km north of Dunville );

  • Replace culvert and arch culvert at Five Mile Waters;

  • Replace culvert at Cape Dog River, Route 92.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
