Over $1 million for roads in Trinity - Bay De Verde

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, and Lloyd Snow, MHA - Trinity - Bay de Verde, today announced government has allocated $1,035,000 for road improvements in the area.

"We are going to be able to undertake a number of projects with this years funding," said Barrett. "I think residents will be pleased with the significant amount of money we are investing into roads in the area and the work that will be done."

Projects planned for 2001/02 include:

  • Resurface section of Route 70 between Burnt Point and Flambro Head;

  • Upgrade section of Route 70, between Old Perlican and Bay de Verde;

  • Resurface section of Red Head Cove Road;

  • Resurface various local roads in the Dildo area;

  • Replace culverts in Lower Island Cove and Caplin Cove Brook, Route 70.

"I am very pleased with the announcement on road projects," said Snow. "While it will not be sufficient to do all the work requested throughout the district, it will give us an opportunity to start some much needed repairs and upgrades."

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
