Major road improvement projects announced for Bellevue district

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, today announced government will invest $1,035,000 in road upgrades for the district of Bellevue.

"When the provincial budget was announced in March, government reiterated its commitment to improving transportation in the province and now I�m following through on this commitment," said Barrett. "I�m very pleased to be able to announce these projects for my district which will allow significant upgrades to be made this year."

Projects planned for 2001/02 include:

• upgrading a section of English Harbour East Road;
• resurfacing a total of three kilometres of Garden Cove Road and North Harbour Road;
• repairing the seawall at Mount Arlington, Route 202-10;
• replacing a culvert on Route 212, Harbour Mille Road.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
