Road Report Update
April 6 - 11:00 a.m.

TCH St. John's to Port aux Basques

  • St. John's to Salmonier Line is now open in both directions. However, motorists are advised to exercise caution due to road being narrow in places.
  • Bellevue to Chance Cove road still closed. Hoping to have open by early Friday afternoon.

AVALON REGION

  • Roads presently closed:
  • Witless Bay Line 
  • Goulds Bypass
  • Heart's Contents Barren still blocked expected to be open late Friday.
  • Route 2 - Pitts Memorial Drive from TCH to waterfront open. However, eastbound and westbound ramps from Pitts Memorial onto the TCH are still blocked, will be open by noon.
  • Some local roads in the Bay de Verde area remain closed. Operators presently working in the area. Hope to have the remaining roads open later this weekend.

CLARENVILLE REGION

  • Roads closed in the area:
  • Elliston to Bonavista still blocked, equipment working in the area.
  • George's Brook Bypass
  • Port Blandford to Bunyan's Cove, equipment working in the area.
  • Clarenville Airstrip
  • Grand le Pierre to English Harbour East, expect to have open by mid afternoon.
  • Monkstown Road, equipment working in the area.

Bonavista Highway: 

  • Route 230 Clarenville to Bonavista is open. Roads are narrow and slushy.
  • Route 235 Lethbridge to Bonavista is open. Roads are narrow and slushy.

Terra Nova Road: 

  • Road closed. Present projection that it will be open late Friday.

Random Island

  • Most roads open including side roads. Widening efforts will continue over the next couple of days.

Eastport Peninsula

  • All roads open in the area.

Route 210 - Burin Peninsula Highway:

  • TCH to Terrenceville Intersection now open but extremely narrow in places. Motorists should reduce speed and use extreme caution.
  • Terrenceville Intersection to Marystown open. One lane and narrow in places. Motorists should use reduced speeds and extreme caution.
  • St. Lawrence to Grand Bank is now open, but extremely narrow with heavy snow cover.
  • St. Lawrence to Marystown (via Route 220) open, fairly good driving.

Equipment presently working at widening roads at all locations.

GRAND FALLS REGION

  • Route 360 - Bay D'Espoir Road:
  • Route 360 - Conne River to Harbour Breton open but very narrow path. Caution: Motorists advised only to use in case of emergencies. Expect road to be widened over the weekend.
  • Tractor trailers are asked not to use this area until road widened.
  • Route 362 Pool's Cove - St Jacques between Pool's Cove Intersection and St. Jacques is now open, widening will continue over the weekend. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in this area.
  • Pool's Cove Road (Route 362-10) open.
  • Route 363 Coomb's Cove to Belleoram open.

DEER LAKE REGION

  • Mainland to Cape St. George open but only one lane. Equipment presently working at widening.
  • Burgeo Road open with a single lane, motorist advised to use road with caution. Recommend motorists stay off after dark over concern of possible drifting. Equipment working at widening, expect to be completed over the next couple of days.

LABRADOR REGION

  • Red Bay to Mary's Harbour now open but one lane.
  • Red Bay to L'anse au Clair open.

NOTE: All areas have some local roads still closed, but are expected to be open as major routes are cleared.
