Road Report Update
April 5- 12 NOON

TCH St. John's to Port aux Basques open with two detours:

  • St. John's to Salmonier Line and
  • Bellevue to Chance Cove


AVALON REGION

  • Some of Route 2 now open including: Foxtrap Access to TCH, Manuels Access to TCH towards Kenmount Road and the Bay de Verde Barrens.
  • Areas closed: Route 2 (with the above exceptions), Ring Road, Harbour Arterial, Grates Cove, Heart's Content Barrens and some additional areas in the northeast Avalon. However, most major roads in the Avalon are expected to be open by late Thursday.
  • We expect Route 2, the Ring Road and Harbour Arterial to be open by noon Friday.
  • Efforts will continue on other roads concurrent with the above, but it is not expected all (especially the Heart's Content Barrens) to be open until Saturday or Sunday.

CLARENVILLE REGION

  • Areas closed: Bonavista Highway (Route 230 and 235), Terra Nova Road, Eastport Peninsula, Route 210 - Swift Current to Bay L'Argent intersection and Winterland Airstrip. 


Bonavista Highway: 

  • Still closed between Southern Bay and Trinity Pond. 
  • Trinity Pond to Port Union is open but narrow with heavy slush cover. 
  • Port Union to Bonavista open this morning, narrow and snow covered.
  • Route 235 Lethbridge to Open All is open.
  • The section between Amherst Cove and Bonavista now open.
  • Open All to Amherst Cove is still closed. We expect to be open by late Thursday or early Friday.

Terra Nova Road: 

  • Present projection is to be opened on Friday. A piece of equipment has been dispatched to the area.

Eastport Peninsula

  • A loader is enroute and expected to arrive this afternoon; anticipating some roads open this evening and the remainder Friday.

Route 210 - Burin Peninsula Highway:

  • TCH to Swift Current open, single lane.
  • Swift Current to Bay L'Argent still closed, anticipate open on Friday.
  • Terrenceville Intersection to Marystown open, narrow sections.
  • Burin to St. Lawrence is now open, but extremely narrow with heavy snow cover.
  • St. Lawrence to Marystown (Route 220) open, fairly good driving.

GRAND FALLS REGION

  • Route 360 - Bay D'Espoir Road:
  • Route 360 - Conne River to Pool's Cove Intersection remains closed. May be open this evening.
  • Route 362 Pool's Cove - St Jacques between Pool's Cove Intersection and St. Jacques remains closed.
  • Route 362 from Route 360 to Pool's Cove Intersection closed but expect to have open later this evening.
  • Pool's Cove Road (Route 362-10) open.
  • Route 363 Coomb's Cove to Belleoram now open.

DEER LAKE REGION

  • Burgeo Road anticipated to be open sometime Thursday. An additional snow blower has been dispatched to the area this morning to deal with large snow drifts.
  • The only other road in the Western region that is blocked is a section from Mainland to Cape St. George on the Port au Port Peninsula. Equipment will not be dispatched to this section until Burgeo Road is clear.
