Updates on Roads and Ferry Operations
ROAD REPORT UPDATE - April 4, 2001- 12 Noon

TCH St. John�s to Port aux Basques open with two detours:

  • St. John�s to Salmonier Line
  • Bellevue to Chance Cove

Avalon Region

Areas closed Route 2, Ring Road, Grates Cove, Hant�s Harbour North, Branch to North Harbour and North Harbour to St. Catherines.

We expect Route 2 and the Ring Road to be open before midnight along with North Harbour to St. Catherines.

Clarenville Region

Areas closed Bonavista Highway, Terra Nova Road, Swift Current - Bay L�Argent and St. Lawrence - Lawn.

We expect St. Lawrence to Lawn to be open before midnight. Present projection is that the remainder will not be open until some time Thursday.

Grand Falls Region

Areas closed Pool�s Cove Road, and Route 360 from Conne River to Pool�s Cove Road and Branch Road to Newtown and Cape Freels.

We expect Newtown and Cape Freels to be open by early evening. The remained some time on Thursday.

Deer Lake Region

Burgeo Road anticipated to be open at 4 p.m.

Areas closed St. Carols, and Mainland to Cape St. George.

We expect St. Carols to be open some time later today with Mainland to Cape St. George on Thursday.

 

MARINE SERVICES BRANCH

Status of Ferry Operations

  • Ramea- Burgeo: The M/V Gallipoli is making one round trip today.

  • Shoal Arm-Little Bay Islands: The M/V Inch Arran remains at dockside in Shoal Arm due to ice. Air service is in place when weather permits.

  • Bell Island-Portugal Cove: The M/V Flanders is making one round trip today.

  • St. Brendan�s-Burnside: The M/V Green Bay Transport remains at the dock at Burnside due to ice conditions. Air service is in place when weather permits.

  • Long Island-Pilley�s Island: The M/V Island Joiner is making round trip today.

  • Fogo-Change Islands-Farewell: The M/V Captain Earl Windsor is making a trip today but encountering heavy ice. Was able to reach the dock at Change Islands and Farewell. The ferry will depart at 3 p.m. half an hour earlier than stated, but the message will be communicated to the public. The ferry will call on Change Islands en route to Fogo Island, where the ferry will remain at dockside awaiting ice breaker assistance.
