Beresford Ltd. Volleyfest 2001 - Set for October 26 27

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association is pleased to announce that the Beresford Ltd - Volleyfest 2001 will be played in the St. Johns/Mount Pearl/CBS area on the weekend of October 26-27. This is the seventh year for the event and here will be seven divisional titles decided; Senior High A and B boys, Senior High A, B and C girls and Junior High boys and girls. There are a total of 103 teams registered for the tournament down from last years 105 teams. Jeff Saunders, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association says: "We were expecting less teams for this years event due to the strike situation in some school boards, however we were extremely pleased to be close to the 105 teams from last year. It definitely tells us that volleyball is continuing to grow in participation throughout the province as we have teams representing from most parts of the island."

The venues being used for the event are Memorial University, Booth Memorial, MacDonald Drive Junior High, Bishops College, Torbay Recreation Centre, Beaconsfield Jr, Mount Pearl Senior High, Queen Elizabeth, Frank Roberts, Holy Heart, Brother Rice, ODonel, Holy Spirit and Learys Brook. The event will begin at most facilities at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26 and play will be continued on Saturday, October 27 with playoffs scheduled at various facilities for late Saturday afternoon. All awards will be presented at Bishops College Gymnasium at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night. All teams are expected to be in attendance.
