The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

National Hoop Championships in British Columbia

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will be sending a juvenile boys and a juvenile girls team to take part in the National Juvenile Championships in British Columbia, August 7-11. Teams competing in this tournament include Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and Newfoundland.

Members of the juvenile girls team are as follows: Kim Brophy, Stephanie Dinn, Sheena Fleming, and Jessica Parsons of Goulds, Pam Flynn of Kilbride, Krystal Lewis of Newbridge, Danielle Lawlor of Renews, Krista Singleton of St. Joseph�s, Esther Mooney of Branch, Lyndsay Power of St. John�s, Danielle Williams of Bay Bulls and Katie Greene of Mount Pearl. The head coach is Tom Kendell who is assisted by Sandi Ennis and George Power.

Members of the juvenile boys team include: George Mammen of Grand Falls-Windsor, Evan Constantine of Dunville, Andrew Boland and Matt O�Brien of Mount Pearl, Justin Halleran of Trepassey, Patrick Snow and Ian Hennebury of St. John�s, Adam Joyce of Corner Brook, Curtis Power and Colin Power of St. Catherine�s, Jonathan Loder of Gander and Mark English of Branch. The head coach is Dave Constantine, assisted by Pam Constantine and Martin Cull.

Action begins on Tuesday, August 7 with the championship games slated for Saturday, August 11.
