Canada Games Teams announced

The coaching staffs for the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association's 2001 Canada Games programs have recently announced the final rosters for both the male and female teams. The teams will compete in London, Ontario from August 11-18 at the 2001 Canada Summer Games. The programs have been in existence since the summer of 1998. Both coaching staffs feel they have selected the province's best athletes to perform at the Games. 

Members of the Ladies Canada Games program include: Jenine Browne of St. Bride's, Amy Dalton of Harbour Main, Maureen Murrin of Shoe Cove, Michelle Bartlett of Goulds, Renee McGrath, Catherine Steiner, and Teresa Butler of St. John's, Jessica Ryan of Biscay Bay, Melissa Molloy of Portugal Cove South, Karyn Power of Trepassey, Amy Brazil of Mt. Pearl, and Sayer Walsh of Conception Harbour. Nikki Rogers of St. John's is the alternate. The head coach for the program is Tami Pennell who is assisted by Amy O'Reilly and Doug Partridge.

Members of the Men's Canada Games program include: Mike Morrissey, Joey Wadden and Sean Simmons of Mt. Pearl, Peter Ingram of Milltown, Jesse Beaulieu of Grand Falls-Windsor, Mike Woodford of Harbour Main, Mark Miller of Fogo Island, Matt Clarke, Mike Tulk and Mark Wellon of St. John's, Brett Butler of Paradise, and Tim Winsor of Deer Lake. The head coach of this team is Nash Miller. The assistants are Gary Sooley and Michael Sooley.

The NLBA would like to thank both coaching staffs and the athletes on their commitment and development over the past four summers and wish both programs the best of luck at their competitions.
