Provincial High School Wrestling Championships this weekend

The Newfoundland and Labrador High School Athletic Federation will sponsor the High School Wrestling Championship this coming weekend. Templeton Collegiate in Gilliams is the host school for the event.

Team and individual honours will be awarded. Competing in the team event will be the host school along with Stephenville High, Holy Trinity High (Hearts Content), Elwood Regional High (Deer Lake), St. Augustine's Central High (Plum Point) and Holy Trinity High (Torbay). In addition, wrestlers from Carbonear Collegiate, O'Donel High (Mount Pearl) and Piccadilly High will take part in the individual competition.

Weigh-in of athletes will take place Friday evening with the matches getting underway Saturday morning. Team gold and silver medals as well as the championship banner will be awarded. Provincial champions will also be declared in 18 weight classes ranging from 75 lb. to 210 lb. and heavyweight.

School Milk Foundation/Keyin College are the two major sponsors of the High School Athletic Federation and of the provincial high school wrestling tournament.
