The following is being distributed at the request of the Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

NLBA Elite Eight Rankings

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) has released the second set of rankings for the Elite Eight Championship to be held February 23-25, 2001. The event is scheduled for Memorial University and Gonzaga High in St. John's. The selection committee consisting of George Power, Bill Murphy, Roger Head and Phil Griffiths have gathered scores of invitational tournaments, exhibition games and league play for the past ten weeks. Over 270 game results have been forwarded to the provincial office to assist with the rankings formulated below. George Power, chair of the Elite Eight program is ecstatic with the support pouring in from across the Island. All events held prior to January 21 are tabulated and included below.

Over the next three weekends, over 200 additional games are expected to be forwarded to the office. The final rankings will be completed on February 11. Invitations will then be forwarded to the top teams in both divisions.
