Firearm Safety/Hunter Education Course deadline for big game licence draw

Kevin Aylward, Minster of Tourism, Culture and Recreation and Minister responsible for wildlife, wishes to advise new hunters that the deadline for completing the Firearm Safety/Hunter Education Course for persons wishing to enter the 2002 big game licence draw is November 30.

"The deadline is necessary in order to prepare for the mailing of big game licence applications for the 2002 draw for moose and caribou on the island and for moose only in Labrador," said Minister Aylward.

The minister also said that persons who complete the course after December will be eligible for the game licence draw in 2003. Interested persons should contact their nearest College of the North Atlantic campus to register for the course. To be eligible in the 2002 big game draw, new hunters who complete the Firearm Safety/Hunter Education Course must also be at least 18 years of age by August 31, 2002.
